Campaign meeting to try to stop the potential cancellation of the 33/33a bus service

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 16:38

Meeting in The Lounge chaired by Hannah & Hester to discuss

"Please help us campaign to stop the potential cancellation of the 33/33A bus route that runs Hartwell to Milton Keynes and Northampton. At this meeting we want to make plans to create a local petition, organise door knocking sessions to get it shared around the whole village, and draft letters to send to the local councillors and the local MP. We are also keen to talk to people who rely on the bus route and potentially conduct some interviews."

Quiz Night at Hartwell Club

Mon, 04 Dec 2017 20:00

Hartwell Club has a regular Quiz Evening every fortnight on a Monday.

The quiz starts at 8.00pm and finishes about 10.30pm with the chance to win a £20.00 bar voucher.

There are four rounds of 10 questions plus a picture round.
Teams should be made up of no more than 5 people with entry at a £1.00 per head
Families are always welcome but this event is not really suitable for under 12's
After the 2 round we have a break for a game of Higher or Lower which has cash prize which is made up by the selling of raffle tickets for a pound. If your number is called out you get to play the game. This is done by cutting a pack of cards and putting 5 cards face down with a sixth card as the start card. The player has to say whether the next card is higher or lower than the start card. If they get it right after all the cards have been turned over they win the cash. If the first player doesn't win a second person gets to try followed by a third person if they too are unsuccessful. If the money has not been won after all three players have had a go the money is carried over to the next quiz night.

Hartwell Club is a Members only Club. However, new members are always welcome. Feel free to come and play in the Quiz and to see if you might want to join The Club and take part in future Quiz Evenings.

Roade Community Orchestra Annual Christmas Concert

Tue, 05 Dec 2017 18:45

This year Roade Community Orchestra have a really exciting collection of tunes and will be joined by guest artists including the very enthusiastic Roade Primary School choir.

Tickets will be available on the door but, to make sure of a seat, please arrive no later than 6.45pm.

Tickets £3.00 for adult, £1.00 for child. Raffle

Programme will include Singing in the Rain, The Pink Panther, Christmas Eve, Sarajevo 12/24, Norwegian dances, Holy Night, As long as i have music and much more.

Formed in 1999, the RCO is led by local professional musician and music teacher Ian Riley in a relaxed, informal and friendly environment.

Our members include children and adults with an age range of over 70 years! Some are learning to play, some have dusted off an old instrument from the attic and others are very able musicians keen to pass on their skills. Our repertoire is mixed including classical, film themes, musicals, pop and rock scores, folk and jazz.

Apart from having a great deal of fun playing as an ensemble, we enjoy taking part in local community events such as fêtes, charity concerts and festivals.

We have received great support on BBC Radio Northampton and hope that, through local media and our website, we will be able to reach out further into the county in order to attract more musicians and discover more performance venues.

Members receive a warm welcome, so come along to a Tuesday night rehearsal at Roade Primary School, Hartwell Road, Roade, NN7 2NT between 6.30pm and 8.15pm (see Calendar ). If you know of someone that may be interested please pass on our details.

If playing isn't your thing but you enjoy listening to good live music in a friendly atmosphere, please come along to any of our local concerts where we would love to see you.
